September 11th Commemoration Ceremony
Wednesday, September 11, at 5:30 PM
The Mayor and Council of the Borough of Franklin Lakes invite area residents to attend a Memorial Ceremony to be held on Wednesday, September 11, at 5:30 PM, in front of the entrance to Memorial Pond, behind Borough Hall, to remember those who have lost their lives to acts of terrorism. The ceremony will include singing, a speech by the Mayor, family speakers, and a prayer by local clergy members. The ceremony will be followed by a monarch butterfly release. Program.

Borough Reaches Agreement with Franklin Lakes PBA Local 150

On September 9, 2024, the Mayor and Council approved a resolution ratifying the Memorandum of Agreement between the Borough and Franklin Lakes PBA Local 150 for a new collective bargaining agreement for the years 2024 through 2027. PBA Local 150 represents 25 members of the Borough’s Police Department. The Memorandum of Agreement memorializes an amicable settlement of all matters between the Borough and PBA Local 150. Mayor Charlie Kahwaty explained that he was "gratified that an amicable resolution.

CERT Volunteers Needed - Fall Basic Training Classes - Enroll Now!

September 26 to November 21, 2024
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers are needed to assist the Franklin Lakes Office of Emergency Management. CERT training provides residents with basic training for before, during and after a disaster. CERT training prepares you to take care of your family, your neighbors, and then the community. The 2024 Fall Basic CERT Class will be starting on Thursday, September 26. Residents of Franklin Lakes are encouraged to attend. 16 and 17 year old teenagers welcome. The theme for the 2025 calendar is “Flowers.” Send us your best shots and identify where each photo is taken and any information available on the name of the flower should be provided. Please do not send in photos with people in the pictures, just flower images. All pictures must have been taken in 2024. Maximum of 5 photos per photographer. All photos MUST be high resolution, and in landscape/horizontal orientation. Submit questions and photos by e-mail to calendar@franklinlakes.org.

Flu Clinic

The Franklin Lakes Board of Health, in conjunction with the Valley Hospital Department of Community Health, will be offering influenza vaccines to Franklin Lakes residents ages 65 and over. Vaccines will be given at the Franklin Lakes Ambulance Corps Building at 480 Bender Court. Registration is required and can be made by calling 201-291-6090. Flu vaccines are covered by most insurances. Recipients must present their insurance card at the time of service. Flu Clinic flyer.

2nd Annual "CL7" Oktoberfest

Please join The Charlie Landers Foundation for an evening out under the big tent at McBride Field on October 19, 2024. Charlie (#7) was a former War Eagle, he played travel baseball for the Franklin Lakes War Eagles from 2013 to 2019. His passion for baseball and love for his friends, family and teammates set an example for all War Eagles. In 2019, Charlie was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer, and after a courageous two-and-a-half year battle, on March 8, 2022, the Landers lost their son. Charlie's legacy isn't cancer, it's joy.

Special Needs Basketball Clinic - Six Week program

The Mayors Wellness Campaign and Bounce Out the Stigma will be offering non-competitive Special Needs six week Basketball Clinic on Wednesday's, October 9 - November 13 at Franklin Avenue Middle School (FAMS). The Music and Food Festival was a fun day filled with great Live Music by Kyle Hancharick, Michael Deej, Phantom DJ, a variety delicious Food Trucks, and lots of family fun activities for the kids. 2024 Road Program

On or about Thursday, August 15, 2024 (weather permitting), construction will commence on the above-referenced project. The work to be performed includes spot repairs to the curbs, followed by milling and paving of the roadways at a later date. This work is funded by the Borough of Franklin Lakes and a grant from the New Jersey Department of Transportation. The construction will take place on the following roads.

From Tax Collector 2024 Final/2025 Preliminary Tax Bill

The Borough of Franklin Lakes has mailed out the final tax bill for 2024 and the preliminary tax bill for 2025. If you do not receive your tax bill by September 13, 2024, you can visit the Borough website at www.franklinlakes.org/taxes and print your tax bill. The next payment is due November 1, 2024 and the last day of the grace period is Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Payments received after November 12, 2024 will have interest charged back to November 1, 2024 as mandated by the State of New Jersey. We do not honor postmarks.

Important Message from Rockland Electric

Important Message from Rockland Electric
Rockland Electric is scheduled to begin work on High Mountain Road, between Haven Road and Summit Avenue, on a storm hardening project. This project will address service reliability on the distribution system associated with both small- and large-scale storms and equipment failure. The project is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 29 with vegetation management crews. Once completed, overhead line crews will be performing the remainder of the work. The anticipated project completion date is November 1, 2024. For any additional information please reach out to Orange and Rockland at 1-877-434-4100.

G. Thomas Donch Nature Preserve - Access Road CLOSED Until Further Notice

The access road to the G. Thomas Donch Nature Preserve, off of High Mountain Road, has been CLOSED for an extended period of time. Due to storm damage, the road is unsafe as the culvert under the road is collapsing. Because the culverts are part of a dam structure, the process for approval of the needed repairs is extensive. The project continues to be on hold until the New Jersey Division of Dam Safety issues its approval. The majority of the costs for repairs will be paid through a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant. Unfortunately, we cannot project a date for reopening the access road unless and until the Division of Dam Safety issues that approval. At this point, we are unable..

Police Announce Back to School Traffic Safety Campaign
