A Missouri Notice of Intent is a critical step to secure your MO mechanics lien rights on private construction projects. This Missouri lien notice form is required to be sent by any potential claimants who did not contract directly with the property owner at least 10 days before filing a mechanics lien claim. Plan ahead, as the deadline to file an MO mechanics lien is 6 months from the last date the claimant furnished labor or materials to the project (60 days from removal of equipment for equipment lessors).

This notice must be served by the county sheriff’s office or some other competent witness. If the owner can’t be personally served or isn’t located in-state, this notice may be filed in the County Recorder’s Office where the property is located. Also, keep in mind that there may be other Missouri preliminary notice requirements depending on your role and project type.
